I know. It seems hokey. There used to be a soap opera called The Guiding Light. Even if one never watched it, it remined us that there are bigger things than us controlling our world and our individual worlds. The simplest controlling thing to see is our nature and weather. Earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, blizzards–these are all things that at one time or another take control of our earth and our lives.
If one is lucky, one finds a guiding light in his/her life. In religion, they call Him God. In recovery they call it a higher power. However a guiding light is perceived, it is a power that reminds us we are not supreme; we must live by guiding principles.
If one is really lucky, they have a guiding light in their life. This guiding light shows Himself in one’s life at different times and is in one’s life at all times directing it. One doesn’t always see how or why. Why is sometimes seen later, like the flight one missed that ends up crashing–that one was supposed to live. Why?
Leaving my personal beliefs apart, all I will say is that my guiding light is God. He has shown himself in my life and I have started chronicling them here in these blogs. He has recently sent me a star to follow, a sacred spirit to cherish and nourish in my own life.
I hope you are so fortunate.
