Most often our minds are consumed by matters and issues that end up being inconsequential and superfluous in our lives.
But Miracles Do Happen. Sometime a bright star shines in our eyes and we are fortunate enugh to catch it.
If we see that bright star and choose not to dismiss it, we might just discover that there are angels out there who will guide us.
Pay attention to the bright stars. One never knows where they might lead.

I look at the world and I wonder…Then I remember the one thing God gave us above all is free will. I think we have not done well with our free will because we are imperfect creatures. Then I think we are taught that God does not make mistakes and so we are as we are supposed to be.
We are, as a species, selfish and greedy. We are violent, as well, the only species that kills for sport. We covet and we fight for survival even when we don’t need to. Since we have the weapons we have, survival of the fittest among us does not mean what it used to. These are things for us to think about.
We kill all the extraordinarily good people among us. This is very interesting to me. Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr., Ghandi, Jesus. Those who actually try to live by what we all know in our hearts is the correct way to live are taken from us so they cannot have the full extent of the influence they might have had.
And on.
But there are still angels among us and some of our angels are spreading their wings.
When an angel spreads its wings wonderful things can happen. We can explore outer space and perhaps build a city on Mars. We can build robots to work for us and use electronic signals to assist parapalegics in moving.
Yes we are fortunate that God at different times sends angels down to us. These angels are meant to show us the way.
If we are fortunate, we realize when God has sent us an angel.

I believe in God.
I won’t speak about about religion nor will I attempt to define or describe God for anyone besides myself, and I won’t make that defintion or description here, at least for now.
That said, God has shown Himself in my life at different times for different reasons. I do believe He has shown Himself at times that I have not yet understood or even become cognizant of.
Most recently He has sent me a Guardian Angel.
Yes, I know. It sounds silly, maybe naive and even childish to beliieve in such things.
However it is true. Yes. God has recently sent me a Guardian Angel.
My Angel will see this and understand it.
For those of you who don’t believe in such things, you might simply listen to these words and perhaps reconsider your beliefs.
To my Angel: So many thanks for looking over me, and of course, All My Love.

We live in a wild time. I’m beginning to think we’ve always lived in a wild time: the wild, wild west, Chicago during Prohibition, all the wars throughout time, today’s mass shootings and terrorist attacks.
We are a hateful people as a race. We are selfish, coveting, mean-spirited. Man, by nature, is selfish and greedy.
In Philosophy 101, the simplest, most basic philosophy course, they teach that we are supposed to temper such behaviors with our rationality. Of course we don’t.
So here we are. 2025 is about to turn to 2026. The Bible, regardless of what form of it one beleives in, has been chucked out the window by many of us. Others pervert its content to mean what they choose it to mean. Yet others, suffering from their own arrogance, wage war on those who do not beleive as they do. And still others, suffering not only from their own arrogance but from hubris as well, have scuttled the most fundamental principles of logic, history and research to present the rest of us with dishonestly created would-be facts to support premises they know from inception are untrue and unsupportable.
Is there hope? I don’t know. But if there is hope, it lies in charity, in the belief that if we all do good, good will happen. Hope for us also resides in simple memory and honestly-drwan contexts.
My father was a prisoner of war (a POW) in Nazi Germany for three and one-half years during WWII. Those who call our President a Nazi, have no idea what a real Nazi is, or if they do, they choose to define Nazi to fit their own selfish interests.
Some of those of us fortunate enough to have been born in the USA, perhaps the greatest county of all time, have forgotten why America is the greatest of all countries, or if they haven’t forgotten why, their own personal dishonesty and self-interests cause them to represent the USA as no different from the totalitarian countires and forces that would terminate its very existence and force its people into subjugation.
As one year ends, marking now a quarter of the century gone by, and a new year begins, let us think of doing good, of being charitable, of being honest and believing in univeral truths greater than our personal self interests. Such simple thoughts and actions will lead us to what constitutes hope for all of us.

You know, sometimes.
Sometimes we just get a good look at what we are.
In these last six years now, if one bothers to take the time to see what our leaders have done, it is absolutely flabbergasting. And it ain’t pretty.
And so it goes? No, it shouldn’t. It shouldn’t go this way at all.
I could lay it all out again, but why? Half will believe one way, half another, and the lefty half will do what one of my cousins did publicly on facebook, call me dangerous and make a big to-do out of de-friending me there for all her friends to see.
Whatever gets you through the night. The social pressure for her must have been great.
What we are, take a look.
So I could write a rant. Why bother?
Still, two notations here.
First, the righties say the Biden progressive left have done more in a year to destroy America and democracy than anyone since the 1930s. They wonder if America can survive this attack, if our democracy can survive it.
Next, the lefties say if we allow the right and Trump to regain power it will destroy our democracy and freedom.
This is what they say and all they say.
I say, are you free now? Can you voice a right-wing point of view without being called a racist (and more) and having to fear for your job, your home, your life, your business?
Is any of this what we elected any of our politicians to do?

You know, there comes a point where you have to let it all hang out. I don’t know if I’m there yet, but I’m sure feeling like it. So I’m going to go in another direction for awhile.
I’ve written some rants dealing with our wonderful commander in chief who continues to amaze us with how truly wonderful her is—at completely destroying America. These rants will continue. Rants will continue as a whole. What truly does amaze, no kidding, is how one person can be wrong so much of the time and get to be president where he continues to be wrong almost all the time.
Rant for within this piece is that I had an oil delivery the other day and the cost was up one hundred-fifty dollars from the last delivery. That’s a tank a month now for the winter, or six hundred dollars of the stimulus money that we got just for the winter, more like a thousand dollars more for the year if the prices stay where they are, which they won’t since Biden has no brakes and the price will continue to go up. Then electric is up twenty dollars a month or another two hundred and forty of the two thousand, and gas is up twenty five a tank, which is another hundred a month at least. Not to mention food and clothes and staples. That’s twelve hundred and a thousand and two-forty and everything else. Gee, I didn’t really get a stimulus, did I?
Oh well, lions and tigers and bears, oh my!
I’d like to talk some—I don’t know how much—about me and my life.
I don’t for a moment think that my life is special in any way. Quite to the contrary, I’ve always thought of myself as rather ordinary. But then as an ordinary man I get the sense that my feelings might be somewhat representative of a lot of ordinary people’s feelings and I think there’s something important in recognizing and addressing that shared connection.
It should be clear, if it is not already, that I do not ascribe to the subjective me, which is the me being taught nowadays as in my feelings are tantamount to anything and everything else. I feel like a girl today so I’m a girl today.
No. I do not believe in that bullshit. I do not believe I am what I feel. I believe that I have many feelings and that I am a composite of my actions rather than of my feelings.
That which our kids are being taught today is garbage, pure and simple. I learned that about ten years ago when I was covering a class doing the lesson that the teacher had left and a kid said to me that he didn’t want to learn that. He then told me what he wanted to learn.
Well…long story short, a principal heard that kid as he passed by the room and later told me I should have taught the kid what he wanted to learn and if I wasn’t so close to retirement he would write me up for my behavior.
Two plus two equals four, all the time. It’s not relative. And what that kid wanted to learn was also not what needed to be learned at that moment to be part of this society and succeed within it.
Sue me for my beliefs. Call me a domestic terrorist.
More pure bullshit they are shoving down our throats.
Lot s of it these days.
Anyway, in other parts of my writings and especially in my fiction I’ve written about and used for subject matter those things in my life that have affected me most. They are not extraordinary things, only things that are part of me and that have made me who and what I am. They are things that happen to a lot of people.
Someone whose life was extraordinary was my father, Nathan. He was three and a half years a POW in a Nazi prison camp and came back to no services from his country, yet he loved this country to death.
Extraordinary.
To be continued…

I was wondering…
Sometimes I don’t recognize America these days.
A 21-year veteran cop anonymously gave 25 dollars to the Rittenhouse defense fund and was summarily dismissed from the force without pension when it was found out that he did so.
Last summer the leftists willfully destroyed parts of some cities, vandalized businesses, burned buildings and cars and assaulted innocent people because they held a different political leaning toward the right. They did this without prosecution and the current vice president contributed to their defense and bail funds.
Why isn’t she fired?
Of course I could go on and on and on with example after example. It’s easy to find such examples in the America I don’t recognize these days.
I was also wondering…
I wouldn’t want to be an illegal alien and I feel for those of them who are non-criminal regular people looking for a better life. I come from immigrants who came here legally, so I care for their plight. But…
I’ve been working for 60 years, paying taxes and doing things “right” to take care of myself and my family and to accumulate wealth to leave my children an inheritance, unlike what my father, a legal working-class immigrant who spent 3½ years in a NAZI POW camp in WWII was able to leave me after working all his life.
When will someone give me food, housing, clothing, full medical and dental care and a stipend just for my being present here in America?
That way I might just be able to pass on to my kids all of what I worked so hard for. I also might be able to pursue my dream, even at my age as a septuagenarian.
Just some wonderings and some random thoughts.

We had our first freeze here in the Northeast two days ago. I was keeping the house a little cooler because oil prices are a dollar a gallon more already and will be even higher when it gets really cold. I have a kiddo and wife with some medical issues and the “cooler” is not really good for them. So I’ve raised the heat.
Now it’s a choice between buying certain foods or not because all the food is more expensive too and if you’re on a budget….
I know you all know this and I’m not alone in suffering through the outrageous idiocy our government has become.
Anyway, I could go on this way forever and will be saying more.
I’ve had some medical issues too, actually since the summer. They had gotten worse over the summer and in part that is why I’ve been away from here for awhile. It’s not the only reason. Part of me says that as moronic and anti-American as our leaders in control now are (they are not at all stupid, they just have a different agenda which they are being very successful with) half the country is actually either not interested or not using their mental faculties. Some of that half really believe in humanitarian stuffs, and are just looking at things without analyzing where we are being led overall. Others are just gaming the system and will bleed it dry and them complain about the teat not having any milk.
Those feelings have kind of coupled with the medical issues and kept me away. Sometimes I think: why bother?
That said, coming back, catching up with new Bill Wynn episodes and some new non-fiction. Am also going to post a new Kitchen Story in installments for blog size, this even before I publish the text of the original Kitchen Stories which will come out in book form. So…stay tuned.
I try to remember to think the best of everyone that deserves it. Our leaders, most of them, are not nice people and don’t deserve the benefit of the doubt. Most of them are selfish and greedy people masquerading as self-sacrificing crusaders. So as we move forward, try to keep a good thought for those people you can, and try to see our leaders for who and what they are.
